Time to fill y'all in!
As with all projects, new knowledge is gained, new goals are made, and there are new steps to take. For those of you that don't know, Cede's sun is setting as we evolve with our understanding of who we are and what we want to accomplish. We're so proud of what Cede is and any success we have had in this one-year project is thanks to you! You've listened to our stories and believed in our mission and because of that, we did just what we wanted to do: make some badass art about the places we care about. For that, we are forever grateful! That being said, Laura and I are not done being creative partners, so stick around and see what we do next!
THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING!
And thanks to Helena for being so good to us and providing a home base to learn and create.
HAND MADE IN HELENA, AR
Each of Cede's prints is carefully handcrafted on the second floor of 308 Cherry St. Every step of the process is handled with great care to ensure the best print possible. It all begins with experiencing and sketching the things we see around us as we travel to different towns. Once we are happy with a design, we draw each individual color layer on separate sheets of vellum. Color is important. We devote a lot of time and conversation to recall what colors represent the emotions we've accumulated in these places. Once we have the layers completed and colors chosen...ON TO PRODUCTION! Our posters are printed on sturdy, high quality papers that mimic the strength of our towns.
We travel weekly to small towns in our area that we think could use some positive attention. Our home base is in Helena, Arkansas, but eventually we will be completely mobile with our print shop (and home) on a R.V.! We will be living and working in towns all over the country!
As we’re traveling, we’re meeting community members and learning their stories. Through them, we have been fortunate to get a true read of each town’s energy and everything it has to offer. We are seeking out local non-profits and organizations in these in these communities and supporting them by volunteering and donating.
We draw inspiration from our experiences and take them into our studio. From there, we sketch, A LOT. Portraying these small towns in a bright, uplifting, visually interesting way is at the very core of our mission. Each color layer is hand drawn, burned, and printed in our cute little studio. It ain't much, but it's ours!
WE DON'T ALWAYS RUN THROUGH FIELDS, BUT WHEN WE DO IT'S TO INSPIRE YOU TO SUGGEST NEW TOWNS!
We're always looking for a new town to explore and make artwork about. Let us know if you have one in mind that would be perfect for our project! Eventually, we'll be all over the U.S. so don't limit yourself!
